Sorry to harsh your mellow, but you’ll thank me later. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟐’𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧.

Yes, now. Whatever day taxes are due in your country, your future self will appreciate being pampered by you now.

𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐧, 𝐬𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞.

Don’t stress out by

trying to herd paperwork at the last minute,

begging for an appointment with your booked solid accountant,

crying over the laptop that crashed before hitting send

or standing in a long line at the post office the day they’re due.

Do these things and take it easy come tax D-Day:

𝟏. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝟐/𝟑𝟏.

Make those deductible charitable contributions.

Sell those losers if you need to offset gains in your portfolio.

Make those tax-deferred contributions (e.g., 401K or IRA in the U.S).
