Feng Shui Your Financial House — Day 23

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟑 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲.

Do it in an age-appropriate way, of course.

The point is not to burden your children with responsibility that’s not theirs to take on. The point is to demystify money and how the world works so that they grow up with a healthy relationship with money.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐥:

Parents work hard not to pass on their family’s weird, multi-generational “stuff” like warped and unhealthy food habits. We teach our kids to stand up for themselves, be comfortable with boundaries, and get in touch with their feelings. We don’t want to make the same mistakes our parents did. 🤣

𝐘𝐞𝐭, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬.

Sometimes, it’s out of a desire to protect:

Having lived through lean times, clipping every coupon and counting every penny, some parents want to protect their kids from knowing about struggle. You don’t want to teach them how the money sausage is made. You want your child to go through life more like “The Princess and the Pea” than “Cinderella.”
